Certain aspects of daily life have truly left their mark on history. For example, using cages to let babies or children “get some fresh air” would horrify most (if not all) parents today. Yet, a few decades ago, it seemed like a brilliant and revolutionary idea.
Running a marathon is nothing out of the ordinary these days. Yet, until Kathrine Switzer’s bold and courageous participation in 1967, it was forbidden for women. Seeing her run while men tried to stop her is one of those iconic images that have become part of history.
