Federal Officer Identified Following Minneapolis Incident Involving Renee Good

Federal authorities have now identified the ICE officer involved in the January incident in Minneapolis that led to the death of Renee Nicole Good. Court records confirm the officer as Jonathan E. Ross, a longtime member of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Although officials initially withheld his name, verified documents later linked Ross to the case, renewing national attention and public scrutiny.

Ross has served with ICE for roughly ten years. Records show that in June 2025, he was injured during a separate arrest operation in Minnesota that escalated when a suspect attempted to flee. That individual was later convicted, and the incident became part of official federal filings. National leaders, including JD Vance, have referenced that earlier event, suggesting it may have shaped Ross’s perception of risk during the January operation.

The fatal encounter occurred during a targeted ICE action in the Powderhorn Park area. Federal officials stated officers believed the situation was rapidly evolving and required a defensive response. Witnesses, however, described confusion and fear, as video footage later showed a heavy law enforcement presence and distressed residents in the aftermath.
